An article in the mn explorer boasts the benefits of the ice climbing sport & the best places to embark on your next journey to the top.

Minnesota proudly hosts two annual festivals: Sandstone Ice Festival (Jan. 5-7) and Duluth Ice & Mixed Fest (Feb. 2-4). Not only do they introduce you to the sport, they represent the best & unique parts of Minnesota winters: journeying into the frozen wilderness, learning new skills, sharing food & experiences by campfire, & embracing the wonders of the wintery Minnesota landscape.

Northeast Minnesota bears the state's most abundant region for ice climbing. The Lake Superior shoreline, The Lower Falls at Gooseberry State Park, Casket Park & Grand Marais just to name a few. With that being said, southern Minnesota's Winona's ice climbing park is putting itself on the map as one of the country's premier ice climbing destinations.
